Features & Benefits

The TOMOE range of butterfly valves, have many unique features that put them apart from other makes of valves.

Inherent in all models of TOMOE butterfly valves are low torque, leak tightness and extended seat life benefits. These features exist in all models of the TOMOE range from the 700 Series Rubber Lined Valves, the PFA lined 800 Series Valves to the Double Offset 300 Series Valves.

The precision moulded seats, profiled disc machining, contribute to ultra low torque features in the full range of TOMOE Butterfly Valves. Product design programmes focus on the key areas of:

  • Break out characteristics of the disc from the seat at the closed position.
  • Seat support in the valve body.
  • Loading on the seat when clamping the valve between flanges.
  • Compatibility of disc and seat profiles.
  • Tomoe Torque figures are consistently 30-50% lower than many of our competitors.
  • Lower torque results in smaller more cost effective valve actuator packages.

The design principles employed in the above key areas of valve design, ensure that low torque properties are consistent throughout the TOMOE Valve range.

LEAK TIGHTNESS:
The unique Triple stem sealing design, profiled disc and precision moulded seats ensure that the leak tight properties are maintained even under maximum operating conditions.

EXTENDED SEAT LIFE:
The combination of the low torque, leak tightness and precision mouldings ensures that extended seat life is consistently achieved throughout the range of TOMOE Butterfly Valves. It is not uncommon for extended seat life of 3x that of competitors valves to be experienced in like for like applications.

The TOMOE seat and disc design reduces the vortex effect as the disc approaches the closed position, this effect reduces any increase in the velocity of the fluid at this point. This provides a positive benefit when the valves are used on Dry and Abrasive applications, producing extended seat and disc life.
